A highly regarded London gunmaking 'name' is
to be re-launched.
Cogswell & Harrison Ltd, London's oldest Gunmaker
announces the acquisition of the prestigious Gunmaking Company Harrison
& Hussey from the Harris & Sheldon Group. The acquisition
adds to the portfolio of important London gunmaking names owned
by the Cooley family that also includes William Moore & Grey.
Dr Graham Cooley, Director of Cogswell & Harrison pointed
out: "Harrison & Hussey is an important name in the London
gun trade and we are delighted to incorporate it into our long term
development plans alongside Cogswell & Harrison".
Alan Crewe, Director of Gunmaking commented that, "Harrison
& Hussey guns were always of the highest quality and we are
determined to continue a fine tradition".
Harrison & Hussey was founded in 1919 and was purchased
by Stephen Grant & Joseph Lang Ltd in 1930. At the same time
Boss took over its 41 Albermarle Street premises and remained there
until 1961. Harrison & Hussey also owned the 150-acre Albermarle
Shooting Grounds in Worcester Park in Surrey.
Its guns were fine examples of the London Gunmakers art
and are highly sought after by collectors at auction and in the
pre-owned market. Fortunately, all of the Harrison & Hussey
gun records remain intact. By providing the serial number of their
guns, owners will be advised of the date of manufacture free of
charge. A full repair and restoration service is offered.
